Board Meeting Minutes
January 8, 2013
The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present - Dee & Bob Hightower, Andy Kearney, Mike Mason, Louie & Paulette Walters. Absent: Jose’ Castillo, Tom Reese, and Lito Castillo. Secretary: Paulette Walters read the minutes; minutes were approved as read.
Treasurer’s Report: Dee Hightower’s report attached; approved subject to audit.
Correspondence: A letter and pictures received from Peggy Cole and Elgard & Gerd Luczak (Menden, Germany); pictures were received from Jacqueline Mead. Cards were sent to Stan Skousen and Jose’ Castillo.
Officer Reports: President/Curator Louie Walters welcomed new board members. Museum open 79 days from 10/13, 10/19/12 – 1/6/13, six more days than last season; 578 visitors (657 last season). Museum open daily noon to 4 p.m. depending upon volunteers being available.
Volunteer Guides days as of 1/6/13: Jose’ Castillo - 52; Andy Kearney - 32; Mike Mason - 15; Tom Reese – 7; Bill Rigdon – 4; Louie Walters - 77.
The road to museum was graded 12/11/12. Vice-President: Mike Mason - no report.
Committee Reports:
- Fund raising - none.
- Building committee – no leaks in roof. Richard Koloen donated and replaced flag rope. Discussion re heat; no action. No outside cleanup yet. About 100 roof tiles on property.
- Newspaper articles – Christmas ad thanked volunteers and board.
- Library funds - $121 on hand. A 1965 yearbook was donated by Peggy Cole from Meade Cole. School yearbooks about 2/3 on hand; missing some 1960s, 1970s & most 1980s. Over 2000 obituaries, 138 birth certificates, 781 death certificates, & 256 pictures connected to deceased.
Old Business: Dues for 2013 are now due.
New Business: Dee made a motion that any emergency meeting will be done by phone with a week’s notice; seconded by Bob; motion passed.
Annual General Meeting: Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Museum. Next Board Meeting: follows the General Meeting 3/12/13.
Announcements: President Louie announced a panel including himself & Jose’Castillo will present a discussion “Before, during, & after the strike” at the Ajo Library. Jose’ will be a play this weekend.
Dee made a motion to adjourn; adjourned at 6:32 p.m.
